MM:  Tell us a bit about yourself (hometown, college, work experience).

I am Dr. Jermaine Ware from Bloomington, Illinois.  I began my college career at Indiana University where I played football and ran track for the Hoosiers.  After graduating from Indiana University, I received my teaching certification from Illinois State University and my Doctor of Chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic.

MM:  So when did the entrepreneurial bug bite you?

The entrepreneurial bug bit at birth!  Both of my parents are entrepreneurs and as a child I was always encouraged to think for myself, think outside the box and make my own way.

MM:  What’s the history of HEROH Chiropractic Lifestyle Center? How did you get the idea?  When did it start?

HEROH Chiropractic Lifestyle Center has been around about eight months.  The center is built around the four principles of how we eat, move, think and rest. Our mission is in the name, Helping Everyone Reach Optimal Health.  The idea came from a deep passion for helping people maximize their potential.

MM:  What makes your company different from others in the same industry?

I am a certified chiropractic wellness practitioner (CCWP).  There are fewer than two-hundred in the world and I am the only one in the Nashville area.  My approach to health and healing is from a holistic viewpoint.  When most people think of chiropractor, they neck and back pain, but when you think of health you should think of HEROH.  Our lifestyle center focuses on getting to the cause of the individuals ailment.  Not only do we assist those in pain, but we also work with clients that desire a lower blood pressure, who want to naturally lose weight, children with ADD/ADHD and frequent ear infections, women with infertility and a host of other non-pain related issues.  We address health concerns without the use of drugs or surgery.

MM:  Name a few books that you would recommend to others? Why would you recommend them?

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand - It embodies the true nature of an entrepreneurial spirit.

Start with Why by Simon Sinek– A great book for anyone with an idea, but no clear plan.

E-Myth by Michael E. Gerber – It’s a great book to get a true definition of what being an entrepreneur means.

The Greatest Miracle in the World by Og Mandino – helps one appreciate life.

MM:  Do you use a particular app, or piece of software that makes your life easier Examples:  Google docs, Evernote, etc.  Or is there a particular podcast that you listen to for inspiration, motivation, ideation? Why?

My Mac and Blackberry make life easier J. As for applications I use “dropbox”, “skype”, “hootsuite” and “evernote” to sync my life.

MM:  What’s next for you and HEROH Chiropractic Lifestyle Center?

The company has recently expanded and we are providing services in Nashville.  I am offering chiropractic and consultation services at the Center of Symmetry (212 Louise Ave, next to Café Coco) on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings (all by appointment).

MM: If you could give one piece of advice to someone that’s thinking about starting their own business, what would it be?

Don’t be afraid to follow your vision and have the patience to allow it to grow into its own.
